Zip Drive Recovery
We have now recovered data from over 500 Zip Disks. We often receive them with errors such as:
- Clicking Sound
- Bad Seek
- Drive Error
- Zip Not Recognised
- Drive Not Found
All these errors have had data on them, potentially lost, but now recovered.
Zip Disk Data Recovery prevention:
Don't pull the sleeve on the Zip Disk back. It is spring loaded so that pollutants don't enter the magnetic data area and cause abrasions on the disk. NEVER place the Zip Disk anywhere near a magnet, as this could easily make the disk unrecoverable, (but not always). For this reason, they should not be kept anywhere near computer speakers.
