It is a standard practice to back up computer systems and servers on to tape drives. They are considered fast and efficient, and can be, however, tapes can be written incorrectly, have early end of data markers, or become corrupt over an extended period of time. Disklabs Data Recovery and Computer Forensic Services will thoroughly examine your tape for any kind of damage, whether it is physical or logical, before any attempt is made to recover the data. Our first concern is to secure a copy of your data to the fullest extent possible; this can be achieved by performing a low-level read of your tape. We will then work from a secure copy of your data, (held on our main storage servers, then copied over to an individual workstation), to identify the format and determine what utility will be needed to complete the recovery.
