Disklabs shows off new Faraday Wallet

Protect your contactless cards

Disklabs, the UK based industry leaders in data recovery, digital forensics and data erasure, showed off its latest Faraday-enabled product today.

The new Faraday Wallet sits alongside a range of Faraday computer and mobile phone bags that block external static electrical fields and signals to protect against external tampering.

Disklabs’ Simon Steggles believes that the product is coming to market not a moment too soon:

“The growth in contactless credit and debit cards will encourage the fraudsters to take advantage of vulnerabilities in the way these cards work.

Our Faraday Wallet uses the same materials as our other shielding products to stop hackers accessing the radio signals emitted from the cards.”

Prototypes of the wallet are out with Disklabs’ distributor network for evaluation. The company will be reviewing their feedback prior to a full product launch.

Disklabs launches PhoneShield 1

protect mobile devices from interception with a faraday bagDiskLabs has developed the PhoneShield 1 “Faraday Bag” to help protect mobile phones and tablets from wiping, tampering and bugging.

PhoneShield 1 uses electromagnetic shields to block external static electrical fields and signals from external sources and was originally designed to stop evidence tampering in legal cases.

Director Matt Jones says:

“The growth in cyber crime and industrial espionage means that many different organisations need to consider protecting their data.   We are regularly approached by the corporate sector and we have sold a lot of products to companies engaged in sensitive negotiations, for instance.

“By placing their mobile devices in to the Faraday Bag they can stop hacking of confidential information via, for example, Bluetooth.”

Disklabs has hailed the support of the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) in enabling the reconfiguration of the product for UK based production.  This has reduced production costs and made it easy for Disklabs to continue product innovation.

The company has approved a number of distributors to ensure global product availability.  This anticipates the dramatic increase in capability of mobile devices and their use as business tools.
